Ivayla came to us wanting to improve her smile by closing the gaps (known as diastemas) between her front teeth. She was about to attend her school-leaving ball and wanted to look her best for the evening. As she was not yet 18, we decided to straighten her teeth using Clear V Smile aligners to close the gaps between her teeth and correct her bite. This would then allow us to carry out dental bonding without having to file down her teeth. This was also what the girl’s parents wanted. We could also achieve a beautiful, long-lasting smile, which was exactly what the patient wanted. She also wanted to slightly alter the shape of her teeth so that her smile would look more harmonious and complete.
After the aligners were removed, the teeth were digitally scanned with high precision. The data collected was sent to our dental laboratory. The dental technicians produced a detailed wax-up, which served as a preliminary model of the desired smile. This allowed not only us as clinicians, but also the patient, to gain a clear idea of the final result. In this way, we were able to discuss the options for aesthetic treatment.
In a single appointment, we were able to close the gaps between the teeth using bonding and shape them into their new form. This was made possible by modern composite materials and advanced techniques for adhesive restoration. It is important to emphasise that the procedure was completely non-invasive – there was no need for filing or any other form of mechanical treatment of the teeth, which preserved their strength entirely.
About a week later, a follow-up examination was carried out, during which we assessed the condition of the restorations. The patient was extremely pleased with the aesthetic result. The restorations were finely polished to achieve a natural shine and smoothness, and the teeth were scanned again – this time to create a custom-made vacuum retainer to keep the new position and shape of the teeth stable over time.
